Of ninety-eight dromedary camels (Camelus dormadarius) examined, only forty-eight (48.9%) were infected with blood protozoan parasites ( Trypanosoma evansi , Theileria sp., and Babesia sp.). A higher frequency of infection was found in males (36.7%), whereas in females (12.24%). Microscopic examination revealed longitudinal binary fission, short, slender forms of Trypanosoma evansi , trophozoites of both Theileria sp. and Babesia sp. Experimental infection showed that both Babesia and Theileria are of zoonotic significance due to their transmission to experimental animals.
